Christmas

Well, I am glad its finally over, and I did manage to get into the christmas spirit finally. Everyones happy and I think I may have gained 5 pounds! On a better note, my daughter did buy me some very nice stash, the Native wolf kit from Lanarte, and 14, 16, and 18 count antique white aida. She doesn't know alot about crossstitch, but now wants to learn, which is great something we can do together. She's 13 so she isn't interested in Mom anymore, mostly just boys, the mall, and her friends. This sampler id the blue sampler from JCS magazine spring 1993 which I found at a garage sale. I also stated 2 new projects Butterfly fairies night by Lanarte and Country french pear by JBW designs.

Busy Busy

I haven't got to do much stitching lately, but did finish this small freebie from Dragon Dreams. We are getting our chainmaille stock up for a Sci-fi fantasy convention we are dealing at in Columbia in April, so the stitching has to suffer for awhile.Today I finished a cute stuffed pig which I put in a headress, dress, and earings can't wait to take a pic of it. On the christmas front am not done with shopping, have baked no cookies, just can't get into it this year. Oh well maybe tomorrow I will wake up with holiday spirit!

Happy Dance!

I finally finished Spring meadow welcome which was one of my UFO's. Seeing as my back is pretty messed up seems all I can do is sit and stitch. Oh, I also finished TW's Castle about 6 months ago but never got around to taking a pic of it until now. It took me about 8 months and drove me to drink a few times!

SBQ and chainmaille

How do you secure a thread when you begin a new one? Specifically do you or have you ever useds a waste knot?

Yes I have used wasted knots, when I have I loop the new stitch through the existing knot. Usually I don't see the point(call me lazy) when using two strand I use a double eye needle looping the first through the second.
Also here is one of my chainmaille creations, it is a 4in 1 choker with copper and topaz. My husband and I make medieval jewelry and armor, if anyone is interested. On a stitching note have already finished my two december ornaments, pics to follow.

SBQ

Do you stitch christmas ornaments? If so how many do you stitch each year and for whom?

Yes I stitch ornaments, I usually stitch them from freebies I find around the net. I probably stitch about 6 or 7 a year for myself, and to attatch to holiday gifts. Another 2 finishes the first best witches I am going to incorporate into an autmn quilt I am constructing with about 10 other pieces, the second Holiday house from Elizabeths designs I'm not sure if I want to make it into a pillow or a wall hanging yet. We'll see i'm pretty lazy about finishing some projects have a stack of about 30 in my finishing drawer!

Small Finish

Oops almost forgot one small finish that wasn' a freebie Sandi Phillips Winter Floral.

Freebie Finishes

I recently finished Mirabilia's freebie Cherub 2004. I omitted the beads and used a DMC gold metallic. I like how it turned out and think I'll stitch the other cherubs for a group framing. I also finished Tempest in a teacup and a new freebie from dragon dreams. I have been obsessed with getting my freebies finished(since I have so many) Hopefully soon! Then I can get back to stitching on Day and Fairy roses and hopefully get an afghan finished before christmas.
